Do you know someone who needs a ride to the polls?  Offer to give them a lift! The proposed Sales Tax increases and Electric Aggregation are two important reasons to make time to vote! Even though local government bodies are the closest to the people, most folks don't have any idea who the candidates are, or what they stand for...so, they tend to just vote for the names they recognize.  I am very sorry to see that so many of those races are uncontested!  If you have offices on your ballot that are uncontested and you disagree with how the incumbent has been doing things, I urge you to undervote to show your displeasure.  I intend to do that with the Sterling Township Supervisor position.  I believe that Matt Howze is on a personal crusade with taxpayer money -- no one is running against him, but I am NOT voting for him!  He still gets re-elected, but it should concern him if he has many fewer votes than there were voters! BALLOT REFERENDUMS SALES TAX INCREASE Shall a retailers' occupation tax and a service occupation tax (commonly referred to as a "sales tax") be imposed in The County of Whiteside, Illinois, at a rate of 1% to be used exclusively for school facility purposes? ELECTRIC AGGREGATION Shall the County have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?
