Speak Up for the 2nd Amendment!
If you can join us, PLEASE attend the Executive Committee Meeting at 3:30pm Tuesday afternoon, Room 117 in the Whiteside County Courthouse in Morrison. Last year these folks refused to allow the Brown County Resolution before the full board for a vote because the cover letter expressed support for concealed carry! They took an oath to uphold the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions...let's make sure they do so! Now they have been presented with over 500 petition signatures that demand they stand up for our Constitutional Rights! 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Article 1, Section 22 of the Illinois Constitution:
Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Bear: v 1: have; 2: move while holding up or supporting; 3: contain or hold; have
within; 4: have on one's person; 5: support or hold in a certain manner
Arms: n 1: weapons considered collectively [syn: weaponry, arms,
implements of war, weapons system, munition] 2: Instruments or weapons of offense
or defense. [1913 Webster]
If you cannot attend the meeting, you can still have an influence on their decision by calling your board members BEFORE the meeting! Let's make sure that the nanny-state members of the Whiteside County board do NOT prevail in burying this issue!
Petition signatures have also been collected in Winnebago County (11,000+), Ogle County and Lee County. Ogle County Board passed a resolution in support of concealed carry.
