Fight for the 2nd Amendment this week! With Obama's 2nd term will come a strong push to limit or eliminate our 2nd amendment rights. The morning after the election, before the ballots were even all counted, Obama was encouraging the continuation of talks on the Small Arms Trade Treaty!!!! While some people say this treaty isn't worth worrying about because it deals with arms trade between nations, it gives the UN disturbing authority to regulate arms within nations so that they can't "accidentally" make it into the hands of countries that shouldn't have them. This treaty is a major threat to our 2nd amendment rights...if ratified, it would supercede the 2nd amendment and we would be legally bound to comply! Obama has also stated that his goal is to eliminate concealed carry rights across the entire nation, along with imposing bans on semi-automatic hand guns and rifles, bullets with only a 6 month shelf life and many other unconstitutional limitations on our right to defend ourselves!!!!
SPEAK UP IN SUPPORT OF CONCEALED CARRY!
Illinois is the ONLY state that still denies all forms of concealed or open carry. If this is going to change, it is up to each and every one of us to get involved. We must write and call our newly elected representatives in the Illinois General Assembly and demand that they stop legislatively disarming us and uphold their oath of office to preserve and protect the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions! 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Article 1, Section 22 of the Illinois Constitution:
Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

4: have on one's person; 5: support or hold in a certain manner
Arms: n 1: weapons considered collectively [syn: weaponry, arms,

There is a citizen initiative to eliminate the illegal limitations on the 2nd Amendment by forcing our local governments to pressure Springfield to institute concealed carry in Illinois. Last month, 548 petition were presented to the Whiteside County Board...the issue has been referred to the Executive Committee. PLEASE attend the Executive Committee Meeting this Tuesday (November 13th), Room 117 in the Morrison Courthouse at 3:30pm! Let your local representatives know that this is something you expect them to support!
Petition signatures have also been collected in Winnebago County (11,000+), Ogle County and Lee County. Ogle County Board passed a resolution in support of concealed carry.
Let's make sure that the nanny-state members of Whiteside County board do NOT prevail in burying this issue! If you cannot attend the meeting, you can still have an influence on their decision by calling your board members BEFORE the meeting!
