Honest elections are Crucial to maintain
a true, representative republic!
As you are all too aware, Illinois is often the butt of jokes about fraud and corruption. If we leave things in the hands of the Chicago machine, that isn't likely to change! I am tired of watching the political circus that passes for leadership in our state!
I intend to do something about it...will you join me???
The first step to cleaning house in Illinois is to ensure that we have honest elections. The shameful fact is that voter fraud occurs much more often than we would like to admit! Claire Van Horn, Marilyn Dent and Marlene Dietrich joined us for our July meeting with an informative presentation on voter fraud and how we can help eliminate it. Marilyn and Claire are co-founders of Honest Elections Illinois and they are working closely with True the Vote to end voter fraud in our state. They told us about simple ways that each of us can get involved and help ensure election integrity in Illinois. Over 10% of Illinois counties have MORE REGISTERED VOTERS
THAN RESIDENTS old enough to vote! Some of the important things you can do can even be done in your pajamas with your morning cup of coffee in hand! Voter rolls across the nation are bloated and incorrect--you can help fix that. Through True the Vote's exhaustive database, you can help look through voter registration logs for inconsistencies and red flags such as folks registered to vote at a building that has been torn down, 20 people registered at the same address, people you know are deceased still registered, the same person registered at multiple addresses, etc. You notify TTV and they do the rest to verify or purge the registrations that aren't valid! Pretty simple!
It is also very important that we have trained poll watchers and election judges at every polling place in our counties. This involves a simple training session and one day of your time....is that too much to ask for in service to your community and nation? I don't think so!

It would be great if one of our members from Ogle county would step up and do the same in your area! This is a simple action that WE can take to make a huge difference.
We must act quickly though! We only have till mid-September to make a difference cleaning voter rolls for the November election!

Concealed Carry
in YOUR County! I am a firm believer that the Second Amendment is the most important fundamental right outlined in our Constitution! Without it, there is nothing to guarantee or protect the rest of them! IL is the ONLY state that does not allow some sort of open or concealed carry--it is time for that to come to an end!
Gun control advocates wasted NO time blaming the Tea Party and the NRA for last week's shootings in Aurora, Colorado. The simple point they overlook is the fact that if only ONE person in that movie theater were properly trained and had been carrying a weapon, they may have been able to take down the shooter and save lives. The perfect example of this is the Internet Cafe in Florida. Armed thugs stormed into the cafe and held folks at gunpoint. A 71 year old man came around the corner, pulled out HIS gun and shot the armed robbers. That man is a hero, but would have been of NO help to the other patrons if he had not taken his right and responsibility of personal protection seriously!
Help us reverse Illinois' policy of legislatively disarming its citizens! It's easier than you think! Rockford Tea Party is spearheading a massive effort to push concealed carry through, starting at the County level. They have collected over 5,000 signatures in Winnebago County. They have expanded their efforts to surrounding counties and have also been collecting signatures in Lee, Ogle and Whiteside. Please print a copy of your county's petition today and take it with you wherever you go. Even if you can't fill a sheet, every signature helps!

Leadership Council We are seeking folks to commit to helping plan and schedule events and meetings, brainstorm topics and invite speakers. If we get several people involved in this effort, it will minimize the workload on each person and allow us to be more effective in our efforts. I can't continue to do it all on my
