SVTP April Meeting
topic:
TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT

6:30pm
Tuesday, April 24th

Loveland Building, Dixon
(We will be meeting on the main floor this month in the Men's Lounge)

The main topic of conversation wherever you go these days seems to be the arrest of Rita Crundwell, the Comptroller accused of embezzling $30 million from the City of Dixon over the course of 6 years.   What failures by the city government enabled this theft and allowed it to continue for so long?  How does more than 50% of your operating budget disappear year after year with no one noticing?  Why, after citizens sounded the alarm, was nothing done?

These are some of the questions that will be discussed at our April meeting this Tuesday, April 24th, 6:30pm at the Loveland Building in Dixon.  Li Arellano and Jack Schrauth will lead a discussion of the need for transparency in government.
Come Join the conversation!

We hope to see you there!

Contact Your Elected Representatives!
Tell them to vote NO on H.R.30
Large Capacity Ammunition
Feeding Device Act
This bill would amend the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Bill to prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices.  This would make many guns already owned by citizens illegal!  This is yet another direct assault on the second amendment!  Please take a moment to read about the bill at
GovTrack    or    OpenCongress
and then email your Representative and Senators and let them know that you expect them to vote NO on this violation of your right to keep and bear arms!  Gun restrictions on law-abiding citizens do NOTHING to deter criminals!  It is time for common sense to enter the debate!  Law enforcement should enact strict penalties on those who use guns to commit crimes and inflict harm and leave the rest of us alone!

The Rise of Islam in Illinois
Why is Governor Quinn pushing to reappoint Munir Muhammad to a well-paid position on the Illinois Human Rights Commission?  Munir Muhammad is a former leader of the Nation of Islam and a suspect in the firebombing of Malcolm X's home as well as having suspected ties to the murder of Khalifa Hamaas Abdul Khaali's 5 children.

The IL Senate Executive Appointments Committee approved his reappointment.  Now he must be confirmed by the IL Senate.

Check out his website HERE  His list of "What Muslims Want" is quite disturbing, indeed!  It sounds as if he feels everything should be handed over to Muslims and men and women of color for all of our nation's past sins..."Human" rights?  He appears to have a very limited scope of whom those rights should be afforded to!

Do you think this man should be on a Human Rights Coalition???

Contact your IL Senator and let them know your opinion on this appointment
