SVTP April Meeting
topic:
TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT

6:30pm
Tuesday, April 24th

Loveland Building, Dixon
(We will be meeting on the main floor this month in the Men's Lounge)

The main topic of conversation wherever you go these days seems to be the arrest of Rita Crundwell, the Comptroller accused of embezzling $30 million from the City of Dixon over the course of 6 years.   What failures by the city government enabled this theft and allowed it to continue for so long?  How does more than 50% of your operating budget disappear year after year with no one noticing?  Why, after citizens sounded the alarm, was nothing done?

These are some of the questions that will be discussed at our April meeting this Tuesday, April 24th, 6:30pm at the Loveland Building in Dixon.  Li Arellano and Jack Schrauth will lead a discussion of the need for transparency in government.
Come Join the conversation!

We hope to see you there!

Contact Your Elected Representatives!
Tell them to vote NO on H.R.30
Large Capacity Ammunition
Feeding Device Act
This bill would amend the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Bill to prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices.  This would make many guns already owned by citizens illegal!  This is yet another direct assault on the second amendment!  Please take a moment to read about the bill at
GovTrack    or    OpenCongress
and then email your Representative and Senators and let them know that you expect them to vote NO on this violation of your right to keep and bear arms!  Gun restrictions on law-abiding citizens do NOTHING to deter criminals!  It is time for common sense to enter the debate!  Law enforcement should enact strict penalties on those who use guns to commit crimes and inflict harm and leave the rest of us alone!

The Rise of Islam in Illinois
Why is Governor Quinn pushing to reappoint Munir Muhammad to a well-paid position on the Illinois Human Rights Commission?  Munir Muhammad is a former leader of the Nation of Islam and a suspect in the firebombing of Malcolm X's home as well as having suspected ties to the murder of Khalifa Hamaas Abdul Khaali's 5 children.

The IL Senate Executive Appointments Committee approved his reappointment.  Now he must be confirmed by the IL Senate.

Check out his website HERE  His list of "What Muslims Want" is quite disturbing, indeed!  It sounds as if he feels everything should be handed over to Muslims and men and women of color for all of our nation's past sins..."Human" rights?  He appears to have a very limited scope of whom those rights should be afforded to!

Do you think this man should be on a Human Rights Coalition???

Contact your IL Senator and let them know your opinion on this appointment

April Meeting

6:30pm
Tuesday, April 24th

Loveland Building, Dixon
(I will send out another email if the location happens to change)

I apologize for the last minute information!  I had not heard back from the folks I had invited to speak at our April Meeting, so I decided to cancel it -- but got ahead of myself and said in the email that the May meeting was cancelled!  Oops!  April and May will both take place at their usual date and time!

The April meeting is back on and will be led by Liandro Arellano.  Li will be speaking on transparency in government, which is a particularly timely message with the recent happenings in Dixon!

We hope to see you there!

Do you believe that the Second Amendment protects your right as an INDIVIDUAL to keep and bear arms?  The Constitution seems pretty clear on that point to me!  Eric Holder disagrees and so do many others in the media as well as many levels of those currently holding elected office!  Please take a moment to follow the link and vote.  Let's send a LOUD message to those who would deny us this right!

Lee County Board Chairman: Man broke law by recording meeting
Seeburg has said some things in the past few years that make folks do a double-take, but I think this one takes the cake!  WOW!  It is really, really sad when someone in charge of a governing body threatens citizens...especially when they don't even understand the laws they are threatening to misuse!  County Board Meetings are subject to the Open Meetings Act.  The Lee County Board has been in violation of this law recently.  I think it is time for Mr. Seeburg to learn the laws that he is required by his position to obey!  The Open Meetings Act very clearly authorizes citizens to tape any meeting which is subject to the Act.  I believe Mr. Seeburg has confused the Open Meetings Act with IL's very tough Eavesdropping Law.  Problem is, that law applies to SECRETLY recording PRIVATE conversation...not applicable to an elected officer conducting official business during an open meeting!!!!

To attempt to intimidate and bully a citizen because Seeburg doesn't want his actions and words made available to the rest of the public is a disgusting abuse of power!

Message from Mike Martin of the Quad City Tea Party, Regarding the Obamacare seminar this Saturday

Hello everyone:

This Saturday we have a rare opportunity in the QC area to hear experts speak about how ObamaCare has already begun, and what is to come in 2014. But, we need your help -- the local media doesn't want to spread the word about this seminar (they don't seem to return calls) -- so we need you to post on facebook, twitter, etc! This issue affects us all -- young, old, democrat, republican -- it doesn't matter. It is your chance to get informed. This is the REAL information. Please also forward this email onto all your family, friends, doctors, insurance brokers, and fellow patriots even if you cannot attend. Seminar information is below ~

Speakers include:

Congressman Bobby Schilling
Illinois State Representative Rich Morthland

C. Steven Tucker, insurance broker (Contributor to FOX NEWS)
Dr. Brian Anseeuw (local neurologist)

There will also be plenty of time for Q & A, so bring your personal questions. Encourage anyone with a small business that this is crucial information. Seminar is this Saturday, April 21st, 9:30 am - noon. Suggested donation $ 5.00 for the Quad City TEA. Will be at the East Moline Christian School, 900 - 46th Avenue, East Moline, IL.

We appreciate any help you can give us by spreading the word! See you Saturday.

Huge Tea Party Rally in Indianapolis on May 5th

On May 8th, Indiana voters will cast their ballots in a historic Republican Senate primary that has gained national media attention as a showdown between two very different candidates: conservative grassroots challenger Richard Mourdock and six-term establishment incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar.

Indiana's Republican primary is a fight for the soul of the Republican Party we haven't seen since Marco Rubio routed Charlie Crist in Florida and Rand Paul defeated Trey Grayson in Kentucky in 2010.

I will provide more details as they are released

On a personal note, we have several key SVTP members or their close family who are experiencing serious health issuesSome of them have been fighting them for quite some time and some of them have just recently entered the battleIn the last 3 years, I have come to care deeply for these folks and the SVTP feels like my extended family!  I would ask that each of you take a moment and say a prayer for their speedy recovery.

correction

I apologize for the error, but I just copied and pasted speaker info for each rally in my tax day update.  I just noticed that the Rockford Rally lists Rich Moreland--that should read Richard Morthland!

Have a great weekend!

April SVTP Meeting
Topic yet to be announced
Tuesday, April 24th at 6:30 pm
Loveland Community Building, Dixon

Leadership Council
We have had a few folks express an interest in the Leadership Council.  If you would like to participate in this new group, please email SaukValleyTeaParty@live.com.  Our first meeting will be announced soon!
Whiteside County
Planning and Zoning Committee
will hold their 2nd hearing Wednesday, April 18th on Industrial Wind Development in Whiteside County addressing Mainstream Renewables plan to construct 7 Turbines East and South East of Deer Grove.  At the first hearing, John Martin of Mainstream testified that one turbine and one substation do not yet meet IL Noise Pollution guidelines, but they are working to configure them so they will just barely qualify.  He went on to say (as if it made it perfectly ok) that this would only affect 1 home.  That is 1 home too many in my opinion!  The count is exposing itself to many possible liabilities both legal and financial by allowing wind development in Whiteside County.  Please help us make sure that the Zoning Commission sets permitting requirements that will protect the county and its residents from ALL possible negatives!
Hearings are held every other Wednesday until completion of the process at the

Rock Falls Community Building
(601 W. 10th Street)
