There is a rally taking place in Washington DC today.  I hope the turnout is amazing...it was organized on very short notice.  Those of us who could not be there in person need to be there by phone--we need to melt the lines at the Congressional Switchboard!
 

We are facing a crisis that could END our Nation as we know it.

The Gang of 8 Immigration Bill would grant amnesty to millions of illegals.  It would make them eligible, almost immediately, for welfare, medicaid, tuition assistance, voting rights, driver's licenses, and any other assistance programs currently available to US citizens.  In short, amnesty would be the final nail in the coffin of our economy--it would bankrupt our nation!
70 GOP members of the House of Representatives have requested the Hastert Rule be codified in House Rules.  That would mean that NO immigration bill can be brought to the floor for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority. 

It is VITALLY IMPORTANT that NO IMMIGRATION BILL pass the House right now!!!! 

No bill to build a fence, no bill for e-verify--NO BILL.  Any immigration bill that passes the House would be sent to 'conference' with the Senate.  It would come out amended to include amnesty or a full dream act bill and would most likely pass in the House with the votes of House Dems and the Republicans who just don't see how dangerous this is!

AMNESTY WILL MEAN THE END OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC!  That may sound a little melodramatic, but it is the truth.  Amnesty would insure a permanent Democrat, welfare majority that would vote for bigger and bigger government, granting them more and more power to oppress in exchange for more free stuff.  Those who have come here ILLEGALLY have no respect for our rule of law.  Amnesty backfired when Reagan tried it...it would happen again!  In addition to that, it hurts those low-skilled workers who were born here or came here legally by driving down their wages and making low-skilled jobs harder to get.  It increases the wealth disparity in this country and makes it nearly impossible for low-wage earners to experience the American Dream!

PLEASE CALL EVERY GOP REPRESENTATIVE YOU CAN TODAY!

Tell them that you don't want ANY Immigration Bill voted on in the House until we have a Republican Majority in the Senate that can stop the destruction of our rule of law!  Not a bill to build a fence, not a bill to mandate e-verify--NO IMMIGRATION BILL, PERIOD.  Tell them that this Trojan Horse would bankrupt our country and lead to the demise of our Constitutional Republic!

I know that comes as no surprise to most of you, but we are seeing our liberties erode at an ever-quickening pace.  New scandals emerge almost every day...it is overwhelming!  The EPA, NSA, IRS, ATF, FBI, DOJ, and the State Dept. are all embroiled in controversy and allegations of wrong-doing!  The very institutions that are tasked with enforcing our laws are violating our rights and undermining our Constitutional foundations. We have been sounding the alarm for over 4 years now...4 very long years.  We keep hoping and praying for someone in Washington to have the courage and fortitude to stand against the growing corruption.  That may be happening right at this very moment... Members of the House of Representatives have taken a strong stand against the pending Immigration Reform Bill.  They have delivered a letter to Speaker John Boehner, demanding that no immigration bill be brought to the floor for a vote until the President has secured the border.  A backroom deal has already been cut between the Gang of 8, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, Lindsey Graham and John McCain to pass the bill against any and all opposition.  Boehner has already threatened House Republicans--pass this or face serious consequences.  He has vowed to remove any GOP rep from committee chairmanships and other retaliation including ensuring their defeat in next year's elections if they do not fall in line with his 'compromise'.  70 brave Republican Representatives have said NO to his bullying.  They signed the letter against the Immigration Bill, knowing that they may very well be ending their careers in politics!  We have been waiting for something like this for so long! It is our duty now to stand up and support these folks who have stepped up to do the right thing. Many people may think that this is a silly issue to take such a strong stand on...but it is THE issue that will determine our fate as a nation.  Will we choose to be a nation of LAW, a nation of equal justice under the law?  Or will we choose to be a nation that enforces the law for some, but rewards others for illegal activities?  The Gang of 8 bill offers defacto amnesty to all those who are here illegally...infinite amnesty to those who sneak across our borders in the future.  It allows illegal aliens access to benefits such as welfare, free tuition and healthcare at taxpayer expense.  It will drive down wages of those low-skilled immigrants who came here the right way and are struggling to earn a living. Our government wants us to believe that they are collecting our phone records, emails, and credit card histories in order to keep us safe...but they aren't even bothering to try to stop criminals from crossing our borders.  If it were really about national security, our borders would be secure! This bill will crush our already faltering economy.  It rewards those who have broken our laws at the expense of those who have sacrificed to do it the right way!  This is a moral issue, a financial issue, an issue of justice.  These 70 Representatives know that our nation's future hangs in the balance...they have risked their reputations and livelihoods to protect our way of life and our nation of law and opportunity. Concealed Carry Law Passed in IL General Assembly

Concealed Carry Bill Passed in the IL General Assembly While we still need to know more about the legislative ramifications of this particular bill, it is at least a major step in the right direction!  The legislation that passed was introduced Friday and did not go through the committee process, so hopefully there are no major surprises in it!  State Senator Kwame Raoul's bill was amended to include pro-carry legislation.  Senator Raoul removed his sponsorship of the bill once it had been amended in this way and Senator Gary Forby is the new sponsor of the bill.  Forby has been very strong on the Second Amendment. The bill does include pre-emption of local gun laws which is a positive provision, but we will have to wait and see if it also includes protections for gun owners outside of prohibited places...the House bill was very clear on that issue.  Now it goes to Quinn's desk.  Quinn had vowed to veto any concealed carry legislation...if he does so, it will have to go back to the General Assembly for a vote to override the veto...no telling how long that would take.  So, for now we are still waiting to see how this will play out.  (after passing HB 183, the Senate also voted down the bill that would ban magazines that could hold more than 10 rounds--the Gun Control bullies in IL had a REALLY bad day on Friday!)
