BAD Gun Bill on the Move in Springfield Today!

View this email in your browser DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING IN SPRINGFIELD The June 9th deadline to enact concealed carry legislation is rapidly approaching.  In a perfect world, no bill would mean Constitutional Carry.  Unfortunately, we live in Illinois which is FAR from perfect!  If no bill is passed, it will be left up to every county and municipality in the state to decide their own carry rules--which would result in a patchwork of 200+ different gun regulation zones.  That would make it nearly impossible for gun owners to travel outside of their homes without violating the law.  It would be almost impossible to go anywhere and know exactly where the rules change and to what. There are two main bills under consideration in Springfield right now:  The Phelps Compromise bill (SB2193) and the Chicago Fiasco pushed by Kwame Raoul.  SB2193 is far from perfect, but probably the most sensible bill that is possible in IL right now.  It includes higher fees and more training hours than Phelps' original bill (HB997), and has a LOT of prohibited places, but is not so bad that it will keep folks from exercising their 2nd amendment rights.  It also sets a standard set of rules for the entire state and includes sensible regulations for stowing your gun outside prohibited places.  Raoul's bill is a NIGHTMARE!  It allows may-issue carve-outs for Chicago and does not pre-empt home-rule regulations which would lead to the frightening patchwork of laws mentioned above! Please read the articles below, then take action TODAY.  Let your IL Senator know that the only acceptable compromise is SB2193.  Insist that they vote NO on HB187!
