***EXCITING UPDATE*** SVTP MEETING                   We welcome Charlie Kirk to our September meeting!  Charlie is the founder of Turning Point USA and is an articulate and energetic young man.  Turning Point USA is a group of passionate young people who seek to engage their peers in the political process.  They do not support parties or endorse candidates, but instead focus on principles and voter education.  Charlie has been a guest on many cable news programs. Please encourage all high school and college students you know to attend and hear what Charlie has to say.  Since the decisions made today will affect our current youth in the future, it is important that they take an active role in shaping the solutions so that we can face a brighter tomorrow! We will also hear from Jeff McKinley, candidate for State Rep (71st district) and Will Lindsay, candidate for IL Secretary of State. This should be an exciting and informative evening! Don't forget to bring a young person with you! ***UPDATE*** SVTP MEETING                   Our meeting will still be held on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH at 7pm, but Bobby Schilling will not be our guest speaker due to a scheduling error We are working hard to find another topic and speaker and more information will follow as soon as the details are locked in. Juenger wanted to let me know that the Dixon School Board has been discussing Common Core for the past year and because of growing concerns, the Dixon School Board will be holding a meeting on Sept. 24th at 6:30pm in the Dixon High School Auditorium.  Parent Academy:  Common Core at the Local Level   It is yet to be seen if they are truly taking our concerns into account, or if they are simply trying to change our perception of the issues.  I hope you will attend if you are able!  Spend some time digging into this issue so that you can raise valid, articulate concerns at this meeting!  This is SO important!  These folks need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid! COMPARISON OF PROPOSED LEGISLATION GOP US HOUSE BILL          DEM SENATE BILL          DEM HOUSE BILL Congressman Randy Hultgren recently hosted a Common Core summit.  Watch Video of the event HERE SYRIA Everyone on the left criticized Bush for being a warmonger for taking us into Iraq.  At least with the Iraq war, we knew that Sadaam was aiding Al Qaeda...what is our interest in Syria???  How does it benefit the US to engage in another country's civil war?  Neither side is deserving of our support!  Obama wants to help the Syrian rebels.  The rebels are as brutal as Assad.  There are many stories of atrocities committed by these rebels..including video of them beheading people, making CHILDREN behead prisoners, and cutting out and eating a man's heart!!!  (Warning--VERY disturbing!) First, Obama drew a "Red Line" about the use of chemical weapons.  Then he said he never drew any lines.  Obama said he didn't need Congressional approval to take military action in Syria.  Then he asked for Congressional approval -- But he has said he may take action anyway.  Don't worry though--it will be a strategic airstrike only--no 'boots on the ground'. Congressman Charlie Rangel wants to re-institute the Draft before we take any action in Syria!   Does that sound like, "No boots on the ground" to you??? ***CORRECTION*** SVTP MEETING                   Our meetings are generally on the 4th Tuesday of every month, but we have changed the date due to the DHS Parent Academy (see information on the Dixon School Board's meeting on common core below) (I intend to be there and hope you will be as well!!!) So, our meeting has been backed up one day to WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH ROCK FALLS EAGLE'S CLUB @ 7:00PM (321 W. 2nd Street, Rock Falls)  I had previously listed the time as 6:30pm. That is our normal meeting time, but this meeting will begin a half hour later than normal.
