As I am sure you have heard by now, the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare.  They even ruled that the individual mandate is constitutional because the federal govern- ment has the authority to levy taxes.  Apparently they missed the part where all the Democrats in Congress and Obama himself were decrying the fact that the funding mechanism for the healthcare bill is not a tax??? Obama campaigned on the promise that, "If you are happy with your health insurance plan, you can keep your plan".  But that's a promise he knew he couldn't keep.  The Affordable Care Act makes healthcare insurance too expensive for most employers to continue to offer their current plans.  So, many will pay the penalty and shift their employees into the government plan.  This poses even more problems for taxpayers because the penalty per employee doesn't come anywhere close to covering the cost of government coverage for each employee.  Who gets to make up the difference?  You guessed it, you and me! For those who make just above the arbitrary income guidelines, but are still struggling to get by, things are about to get even tougher!  They will now be FORCED by the government to purchase one of these new, "affordable" health insurance plans.  If they can't afford it or choose not to comply, the enforcement arm of this extortion racket (the IRS) will make you pay a new "tax" to cover your insurance one way or another!  Let's face it, the Affordable Care Act had nothing to do with making healthcare more accessible or affordable...it was all about power and control...control of 1/3 of our nation's economy and control over every aspect of our lives. The good news is that you and I can make sure Obamacare is never implemented! By issuing this ruling, the Supreme Court has put this issue back into the political arena.  They have removed Obama's main campaign issue in November.  Because this legislation is so unpopular with Americans, Obama is going to enter into this election cycle on the defensive.  What must he defend, you ask?  Every campaign promise he made in 2008!            *  Obama promised to make healthcare MORE AFFORDABLE...Obamacare is              resulting in HIGHER insurance premiums.            *  Obama promised not to raise taxes...Obamacare is the largest tax increase in              the history of our nation.            *  Obama promised you could keep your current plan if you are happy with it...              Obamacare makes it too expensive for most employers to continue their              current plans.           *  Obama promised to create jobs, but spent his first year in office cramming an              unpopular healthcare takeover down our throats           *  Obama promised to have the most transparent government ever...yet, "we              must pass the bill to see what's in the bill"...clear as mud!           NOW is the time that we must ALL step up!  The ONLY way to save our quality healthcare is to get involved and make sure that Republicans retain the House, gain seats in the Senate and help boot Obama out of office!  The Republicans do not have all the answers and often can't be trusted any more than the Democrats, but we must stand behind anyone who pledges to repeal and replace this disastrous legislation!  If you sit on the sidelines again this election cycle, you are helping Obamacare crush our healthcare system, quality of care, and our personal liberties!!!! Get involved, volunteer for a candidate who will work to repeal and replace Obamacare! Ouch!

Auditor General Releases IL Audit Results $43.8 BILLION dollars is our current budget DEFICIT.  That doesn't take into account any of the things the state is actually able to pay for...that is simply the amount we are spending BEYOND our ability to pay!  Using Illinois' 2011 population of 12,869, 257 people (at the rate folks are fleeing this state, today's number is likely much less than that) , every man, woman and child in the state is on the hook for $3400+ in extra debt, in addition to the money they already pick from our rapidly emptying pockets! We cannot afford to sit back and allow our state to careen off the bankruptcy cliff!  Look at Wisconsin, change is possible...they went from over $3 billion deficits to impressive surplusses in very little time.  Illinois is in MUCH worse shape, but that makes it even more important that we get involved NOW and help elect folks with the integrity and backbone to get the job done and stand firm on their convictions.   Join us for our June SVTP Meeting to learn how easy it is for you to get involved and help change the direction of our state 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 26th at the Loveland Community Building, Dixon     Fireworks on the Whiteside County Board Comments by Vice Chairman, Bill McGinn about the reappointment of Jerri Robinson to the Whiteside County Airport Board which appeared in the Gazette last Tuesday sparked heated exchanges at Tuesday night's board meeting!  McGinn told the paper that he wasn't saying the board wasn't doing a good job, he just wants some Democrats on the board to keep things fair.  Since when are airport board decisions dependent on political affiliation?  McGinn and others have taken offense at some of the board's decisions.  When Airport Manager Mike Dowell was approached by someone in 2010 to hold a fundraising event at the airport for Bobby Schilling, he followed protocol and took the request to the airport board.  The board voted to allow the event, as long as equal treatment would be given to other candidates with the same request.  The airport board attorney agreed that was ok as long as the county board did not have any rules which would prohibit the event, so the matter was referred to the county board.  Turns out that the board does have regulations preventing such an event, so the fundraiser was never held.  In my opinion, proper procedure was followed, so I see no problem here!  Would the outcry have been so loud if the first request for such an event came from a Democrat candidate?  I have a funny feeling it would not! Then, there is the windfarm issue.  Manager Mike Dowell expressed some concerns about the Green River Wind Farm creating hazards for pilots and the airport.  He attended the first hearing and spoke about his concerns.  Immediately, Bill McGinn condemned him for "representing" the airport without the consent of the board.  Mike had told the airport board previously that he was drafting a letter to the commission about his concerns.  As the airport manager, it is his responsibility to speak up if he has concerns about something interfering with or presenting a hazard to the airport!  McGinn simply has his undies in a knot because he doesn't want anything to get between Whiteside County and all the wonderful tax revenues he sees attached to this project and refuses to even discuss the possible liabilities to the County....in his opinion, if you have concerns, you need to sit down and shut up.  As I have presented information to the board on this and other issues, I have met with direct disrespect and intimidation efforts from our not-so-esteemed vice chairman and I know of other folks who have received the same and worse!  If you disagree with him, you are verbally attacked, mocked and bullied (One instance involved him towering over me, screaming at me while shoving his finger in my face).  This man needs to go!  I urge all of you in Whiteside County to get involved as November approaches and let your friends and family know that this man has a sense of entitlement to his position and completely disrespects the input of ordinary citizens!  Whiteside County taxpayers deserve better! Mercury One Day of Service Food Drive-- Cash Donations   Mercury One Day of Service Food Drive-- Virtual Store  Whiteside County Planning and Zoning Hearing Whiteside Planning and Zoning Hearing on the Special Use Permit Request for nine turbines in Whiteside County as part of the pending Green River Wind Farm wrapped up last Wednesday with closing comments from local residents.  Due to a recent IL law which states that the County Board must take action on items referred to them from their committees within 30 days, the Zoning Committee has scheduled their next meeting and discussion on this hearing for Aug. 1, 2012.  The meeting will be held at the Rock Falls Community Building, 7pm   Albracht Campaign Seeking Volunteers My name is Dani Schroeder and I am managing the Call Center down here at the Albracht for Senate headquarters. We are in desperate need of volunteers in our call center. We need to start making at least 10,000 calls a week! That's impossible with the few volunteers we have coming through the doors now! Partisan Politics alive on the Whiteside County Board

Partisan politics in Whiteside County Government
 
Partisan politics have NO place in our local governments.  Those who have been elected to represent us on the Whiteside County Board are responsible for making sure that our County runs smoothly and within budget.  They are not there to expound on what political make-up of appointed boards is "fair" or not....there is no "status quo" on how many republicans or democrats should be on any given board.  In today's newspaper is an article that brings attention to the driving motivations for decisions made by some board members!  Read the article HERE
 
Bill McGinn has admitted that he will vote against Tony Arduini's reappointment of Jerri Robinson to the airport board based solely on the fact that she is a republican.  Truly disgusting!
Truth be told, McGinn has an axe to grind with the whole (republican)board and Jerri's reappointment makes a convenient target!
 
If you would like to voice your opinion on this matter, you may wish to attend the Whiteside County Board meeting tonight at 6:30pm at the courthouse in Morrison (enter through the law enforcement center).  If you wish to comment, comments are not allowed to be directed at or about any particular member, but must be addressed to the board as a whole).  Meeting Agenda Available HERE
 
If Jerri is not doing the job to his satisfaction, that is a legitimate reason to protest the appointment...otherwise it is a disgusting abuse of his elected position!
