WLS Radio Host, Dan Proft, to Speak to SVTP

"Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their congress.  If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption.  If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature."--President James A. Garfield

March SVTP Meeting
Join us to meet and hear from Dan Proft
Dan was a candidate for Illinois Governor in 2010 and hosts a morning radio program on WLS.  Dan will share his opinions on what we need to do to make sure we win in the 2012 General Election and other topics.  Dan is a passionate and charismatic speaker and I look forward to hearing from him!  I hope you will join us!
Tuesday, March 27th at 6:30 pm
Self Help Enterprises, Sterling

I am VERY excited about our new meeting location!  I have been searching and praying for a good place to hold our regular meetings that would also accommodate slightly larger gatherings...at a reasonable price.  Those prayers were answered this morning by Self Help!  Their cafeteria is a wonderful space and it is a blessing to be granted access to it!  I stopped by to check it out this afternoon and received the warmest welcome that I have seen in a long time by the workers there.  It really renews your spirit to walk into a place that is filled with such innocence and happiness!

Introducing, "My Two Cents-Worth"
I want to hear from our members.  I want to share your thoughts on candidates and issues.  Beginning next week and continuing from there, I plan to run a section in the newsletter that features letters written by you.  Next weekend's focus will be on the Primary Election.  Please pick a candidate in a particular race and explain to us why you think they are the right person for the job.  Please keep submissions under 300 words and I will send them out as they are submitted, with no editing.  You need to include your name and the town you live in.  The cutoff for the first topic will be Wednesday at 5pm.  Please be polite and factual.   This is not an open forum like the newspaper, so you need not worry about snarky posts or insults!  I just want to create an easy (and respectful) way for members to learn what others are thinking and be able to voice their own opinions as well.

Would you like to help the Manzullo Campaign?
Adam Kinzinger's campaign is blanketing the 16th District with robo calls.  Don Manzullo feels those are impersonal, but realizes that he needs to be connecting with voters in the district as well.  So, his campaign is looking for volunteers to help make calls from their home.  All calls go through a computerized system, so your number is not the one that will show up on caller ID.

If you believe that Don Manzullo is the right choice for the 16th district and have a few minutes you can spare, please call Jack Morissey for more information:

URGENT ACTION NEEDED to stop the US Senate from flushing MORE of your hard-earned money down the toilet!  The Senate will be voting on Amendment #1812 to the Transportation Bill (S. 1813).  This amendment would extend the Production Tax Credit and the "Section 1603" Treasury Grant Program for one year.  These programs cost taxpayers over $5 BILLION in 2010 and even more in 2011!  Our government cannot afford to pay its bills, and it certainly cannot continue to throw more money into the incredible boondoggle of alternative energy subsidies that have shown no measurable improvement in our energy independence or affordability!

Please contact Senator Durbin NOW and urge him to vote NO on Amendment 1812 to the transportation bill (Senate bill 1813)Email Contact Form

Conservatives Should Mobilize...
I agree that we need to stand with those in Congress who have stood with us.  Congressman Manzullo has a few votes in his record that I am sure most of us disagree with, but overall, he has fought the establishment and provided good representation for voters in the 16th District.             --Amanda
