City of Sterling and Sterling Township Residents: Time to Let Them Hear from YOU! It wasn't all that long ago that the City Manager, Scott Shumard, was threatening to close the Fire Dept. substation on Lynn Blvd and lay off six firefighters, leaving our Fire Dept. understaffed. His bully tactics paid off--the firefighters agreed to open their STANDING contract so that the city could eliminate future wage increases and cut wages and pension contributions in exchange for keeping the station open and the department staffed. So, these men who risk their lives to keep us safe, agreed to the cuts because, according to Shumard, we could not afford to pay them. Fast forward a bit and we find ourselves in an odd, alternate reality. Sterling now has plenty of money to give Mr. Shumard a 3% raise AND contribute to HIS pension! The real kicker is that Mr. Shumard is already making more than DOUBLE ($95,000) the average annual HOUSEHOLD income of Sterling residents BEFORE this raise! The city council justified this raise by saying that he has worked for them since 2007 and has never had a raise--poor baby! Read about it here--buried all the way at the bottom of an unrelated story! Contact the City Council Members and Mayor and be sure to express your displeasure at this! Contact info available HERE (remember Mayor Skip Lee and alderman-at-large Amy Viering have switched places!) I would love to post their responses, so please email me with any comments they make to defend their actions! saukvalleyteaparty@live.com | The U.N. has a plan for Your 'Sustainable' Community Should you be concerned? The U.N. is constantly looking for ways to exert its control over all the nations of the world. That may sound a bit paranoid, but it is, unfortunately, all too true--and many parts of our government are currently implementing portions of many different UN goals and programs. Please read the following documents so that you are well informed on this important topic! United Nation's Agenda 21 Website A bit of background info on Agenda 21 U.N. Plan for Your 'Sustainable' Community How to Fight Back Against Agenda 21 Follow-up from July SVTP Meeting on the United Nations Treaty on the Rights of the Child After our meeting on the Treaty on the Rights of the Child, I was contacted by a mother from Chicago who has been fighting to save her daughter from our over-zealous legal system which is already implementing many of the ideas contained within this treaty, even though it has not been ratified by our Congress! Read About Her Heart-breaking Struggle HERE | | Come Meet Bill Albracht Candidate for the 36th IL Senate District Bill is a retired Secret Service agent and Vietnam Vet who is seeking to unseat Mike Jacobs--you remember him, don't you? Mike Jacobs is the Democrat Senator who punched another Senator for questioning his conflict of interest due to his father's business dealings with ComEd (I believe that he's a paid lobbyist). More information about Mr. Albracht is available on his website. I haven't met him yet, but he sounds like he would be a refreshing change for Illinois! | Governor Quinn Illegally Stacking Boards in Illinois by John Bambenek The culture of corruption is a well-known fixture in Chicago and Illinois politics where it doesn’t matter what you know, it matters who you know. We have one governor on his way to jail and the one before him currently serving time for corruption. You would think the current governor, Pat Quinn, who bills himself as a reformer would change things. You would be wrong. Read More HERE | Dems Map vs Fair Map The Battle Wages On As, I am sure, most of you know, the gerrymandered mess of a map passed by the Democrat majority in Springfield and signed into law by Governor Quinn has been challenged in the courts. This map forces many Republican Congressmen into the same districts, almost certain to assure that the Democrats regain some of the seats needed for them to retake the majority in the House of Representatives! The map that has been proposed by Republicans and citizen's groups offers much clearer, more understandable and fairer districts. View both maps by clicking HERE . | Make a difference in 2012!
