Sarah Palin Bus Trip Cancelled

I am sorry to have to inform you all of this, but the bus trip to the tea party rally to see Sarah Palin has been cancelled.  We got the information for the trip too late to get a good response, so we won't be travelling by bus.
 
If anyone is still interested in attending, the rally will be held in Indianola IA, which is just south of Des Moines and very easy to get to.

Update on free Sarah Palin bus trip sept. 3

Here is a little more information on the Sarah Palin bus trip event.  My previous search had listed the event as being held in Waukee, IA, which is just west of Des Moines, but this shows Indianola, which is just south of Des Moines.  It will be about a 3 1/2-4 hour bus trip depending on traffic.  Our pick-up location will most likely be Rock Falls Walmart Parking lot.

Restoring America Event

  Tea Party of America is proud to announce the Restoring America Event on Saturday, September 3rd from 11am to 2pm. Former Governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin will be on hand to give the keynote address. This event will be held at the following location:

It wasn't all that long ago that the City Manager, Scott Shumard, was threatening to close the Fire Dept. substation on Lynn Blvd and lay off six firefighters, leaving our Fire Dept. understaffed.  His bully tactics paid off--the firefighters agreed to open their STANDING contract so that the city could eliminate future wage increases and cut wages and pension contributions in exchange for keeping the station open and the department staffed.  So, these men who risk their lives to keep us safe, agreed to the cuts because, according to Shumard, we could not afford to pay them.  Please Call your legislators now!!!  They are not going to have time to read and understand the bill before voting...hmmm...guess they have to pass the bill to find out what's in it again!

With the House and Senate trying to force a vote on the new debt ceiling deal, possibly tonight - before anyone has a chance to fully review it, we must take action RIGHT NOW to oppose this bill.  This bill cuts $900 billion around the edges and has no Balanced Budget Amendment requirement.  In addition, it creates a "Super Committee" that may very well push through tax increases.
 
Call your Congressman and Senators right now to oppose this bill, and demand that they Cut, Cap, and Balance instead.

What we do know is it contains a massive $2.4 trillion dollar increase in the debt ceiling.

It contains almost no immediate spending cuts.
The Deficit commission that is going to be created by this nightmare bill will be equally divided between six Democrats who want massive tax hikes and six Republicans.
The bill also calls for massive cuts in defense and allegedly in entitlements if the Deficit Commission is deadlocked or otherwise cannot come up with more budget cuts.  The deficit commission will have the option of recommending tax hikes.  The Bush tax cuts could be gone.  Capital gains could be raised from 15% to 28%, destroying investment.  Middle class deductions, such as home mortgage interest will be gone.      
The worst part is it will give the Democrats the political cover they need.  The GOP will not be able to pin this one on the Democrats because Boehner and McConnell brought this to the Republicans and the Republican House passed it!
According to sources, Boehner said the deal was 'the best that we could get.' In particular, he thanked the 87 freshman members for their input, without which 'we wouldn't have gotten this far.' ... Freshman Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R., Ind.) told NRO that with 'the most liberal president we've ever had' occupying the White House, the Tea Party and the conservative movement have done all right for themselves. 'I think the Tea Party needs to take credit for changing the dialogue in Washington to be about cutting spending,' he said. 'But whether I vote for this plan or not, it's not enough. This isn't the end of the fight.' ... Boehner told members he would like to vote on the plan as early as Monday night, and apologized for the short notice. Leaders will meet with the entire conference Monday to further discuss the details of the plan." --National Review's Andrew Stiles
