Everyone Loves a Parade!
Join us in the Petunia Fest Parade on Sunday, July 3rd!

We are #39 and will line up on W. 9th Street (just west of Galena Ave).
Line-up begins at 11:00am and we would like everyone who is
walking or riding with us to be there no later than 12:30

The parade begins at 1:00.

Dress in Red, White and Blue, bring your flags and your family and come ready to be greeted by waves and smiles all along the parade route!  Last year was a LOT of fun and this year we have tons more goodies to hand out--Lots of pocket Constitutions, flags and candy!  If you could bring along an extra bag of candy for us to handout, that would be a big hit with the kids!  If you plan to join us, please send us a quick email at saukvalleyteaparty@live.com so we can get an idea of how many people will be representing the SVTP.  If you can't walk the route, don't let that stop you--we have space available for about 18 folks to ride!

  SVTP June Meeting

We were joined last night by local Sheriffs, John Varga and Michael Harn.  We appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules to share their opinions and knowledge of 2nd Amendment Issues.  We had a full house, with about 75 people who came out to discuss this important issue!  We learned that they, along with many IL Sheriffs, support Concealed Carry.  They realize that they cannot be everywhere at once to protect everyone and that we should all have the ability to protect ourselves when necessary.  However, they both share concerns with the legislation that is currently working its way through Springfield (HB 148).  They feel that it is not specific enough in the implementation and leaves a lot of important things unaddressed as well as not requiring sufficient training requirements for obtaining permits.  Police officers are required to complete 40 hours of training and be recertified throughout the year.  HB 148 will most likely be revived when the fall session begins in Springfield.
If you see Sheriff Harn and Varga, be sure to thank them for joining us!
