Tuesday, August 23 at 6:30pm Loveland Community Building, Dixon    July Meeting Summary   Here is what you missed if you were not able to join us last week: For those of you who weren't able to attend, we had a very informative meeting on July 26th!  Heidi Holan from ParentalRights.org joined us to share her knowledge of the United Nation's Conference on the Rights of the Child...Scary Stuff!!!!  This treaty has already been signed into law in 190+ countries!  Because of this, it is already being used by some in our judicial system as "customary international law"!  If this treaty were ratified in the US, it would supercede all state Constitutions.  It gives a panel of 18 people from foreign countries (with belief systems far different from ours) the right to decide what is 'in the best interest of the child' for every child in this country!  They would be able to decide how YOU would parent your children!  They could go so far as to decide what religion, if any, your child will practice, what you must feed them, what they will learn in school, etc.  It would also guarantee the 'right of the child to be heard' which would basically mean that any child old enough to clearly state their opinion could actually take their parents to court everytime they disagreed with a decision made by the parent!  This would be an effective way to destroy the family structure throughout the world and control the hearts and minds of future generations!  Please go to ParentalRights.org and sign their petition in support of a Constitutional Amendment to define and protect parental rights in this country as a fundamental right!       Keep in Touch! Program it into your cell phone so you have it with you all the time.  When you are in line at the drive-up at your bank, or in between errands for
the day, open up your phone and give a member of Congress your opinion!  It only takes a minute to make your voice heard.  You can also just
flip it open and give the number out to folks you talk to during the day and urge Them to call as well!

1) Cut, Cap, and Balance is the only plan that will keep us from losing our credit rating.

2) A drop in our credit rating will impact the United States long term.

3) Neither Boehner nor Reid's plan cuts enough to satisfy the credit reporting agencies.

As you wake up, here is what you need to know.

 

John Boehner thinks he has the votes to pass his third plan out of the House. Work to make sure he does not by going tohttp://www.redstate.com/action and calling your member of Congress. Tell them to oppose Boehner's plan.

 

Even if you are sympathetic to Boehner's plan, here is why it must be killed — it is a trap. Pay attention please.

 

Harry Reid and all the Senate Democrats have sent John Boehner a letter saying they will oppose his plan in the Senate. In other words, Boehner's plan, given the GOP votes in the Senate pledged to vote against it, will get less votes in both the House and in the Senate than Cut, Cap, and Balance.

 

Here, though, is why it is important to kill John Boehner's plan this very morning before today's vote.

 

John Boehner's plan will get to the Senate. Harry Reid's plan isn't even in final form and has not even started making its way through the Senate's arcane processes. It is a trap.

Harry Reid will amend John Boehner's plan and include parts of Reid's own plan that make tax increases even more likely than Boehner's already does.

 

Senate Democrats last night were beginning to talk about adding the Gang of Six's very bad plan to it as well — a trigger that would be engaged should the Democrats then refuse to reform entitlements, i.e. a trigger the Democrats will gladly engage because the Gang of Six plan raises taxes, including getting rid of the employer credit for active duty military reservists and raising the capital gains tax from 15% to 28%.

 

Then the Senate Democrats will send John Boehner back his own plan and dare John Boehner to kill his very own proposal. Should he try, the GOP will look as hardline and unwilling to compromise as John Boehner's acolytes have been accusing conservatives of being this week.

It seems like every time I turn on the television or pick up a newspaper, I see another U.N. initiative moving forward in the U.S.  Hmmm...a treaty on the rights of the child ...sounds innocent enough...but is it?  Come be part of  the discussion as we are joined by a representative of parentalrights.org.  Learn about this treaty and what it would mean for each of us as parents if it is signed and ratified by the United States.  Next SVTP Meeting: July 26th at 6:30pm Loveland Community Building, Dixon     Be a Part of the Iowa Straw Poll for FREE!   Mike George’s Strong America Now organization was very impressed with the Illinois Tea Party turnout for the debt summit a few weeks ago, and has graciously offered to again furnish transportation and entry to a major political event. This time it’s the Iowa Straw poll on Saturday, August 13th. Lunch will be provided by all the candidates at no cost. We’re told food is definitely not a problem at the Straw Poll. While it’s a political event, with rides and other things for family entertainment it’s much more of a ‘fair’ atmosphere – that means children and grandchildren are welcome. Each candidate will have a piece of ground staked out and be available to meet & greet and speak with. Remember though, there will probably be quite a few folks there and most likely not everyone will be able to have a lot of one-on-one with the individual candidates. Strong America Now will be paying the cost for every single one of our tickets and we’ll have access to everything there including the candidates’ speeches just prior to the voting. Not being Iowa residents we won’t be able to participate in the voting process itself but we’ll have everything else. Celebrate Our Independence!

As this Holiday weekend comes to an end, we hope each of you has had plenty of time to celebrate the birth of our nation with your friends and family.  This Holiday is set aside as a time to remember the sacrifices of those who founded this land of freedom and opportunity.  Many men and women pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to secure liberty for this land.  Through the years, many more men and women have sacrificed to keep us free.  Now it is up to us to make sure that our children and grandchildren will inherit a nation that allows them the liberties and opportunities we have enjoyed.  We ask you all to remember the sacrifices of those throughout our history and encourage you to be involved in shaping the future of this incredible nation by helping to restore its Constitutional foundation.  Now it is our turn to protect this land we love!
