Just Say NO to Amnesty Take action and sign the Grassfire No Amnesty Petition Why have we allowed the left to hijack the narrative and paint us as racists with no compassion for those who are here illegally...afterall, it surely isn't their fault that they are breaking the law!  The way it is portrayed in the media, it must be OUR fault they are violating our rule of law!  They are only innocent victims!  This is completely backward--they have flipped reality on its head!  We have a path to citizenship...it is our LEGAL immigration system!  Those who are here illegally (or without documentation for those of you who are more politically correct) are breaking the law and do not deserve to jump to the head of the line. These days, enforcement of our immigration laws is a joke... and it goes something like this: Cross the north Korean border illegally, get 12 years hard labor Cross Iranian border illegally, get detained indefinitely Cross the Afghan border, get shot Cross the Saudi border, get thrown in jail Cross the Chinese border, you may never be heard from again Cross the Cuban border, get thrown in prison to rot... However. ..cross the U.S. border illegally, get a job, driver's license, social security card, welfare benefits, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized rent, free education, free healthcare, and the right to vote. I guess the joke's on us! PLEASE CONTACT Senators Kirk and Durbin and Representatives Bustos and Kinzinger and, if you have time, Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor and let them know that ANY kind of amnesty before the border is secure is UNACCEPTABLE!!! Urge them to enforce our rule of law and secure the border.   Nancy Pelosi Urges Congress to Uphold the Constitution... by passing gun control? To Fight This Battle, No Need to Pick up a Gun...

As I was getting ready for work this morning, I reached into my dresser and pulled out a t-shirt.  When I saw which one I grabbed, it made me kind of sad.  It said, "America, Home of the Free Because of the Brave".  That phrase has always made me happy, but this morning it made me think in a different direction. We have brave men and women who sacrifice EVERYTHING--even their very lives--for this country, so why is it SO hard to get people to sacrifice a little bit of their time to save our nation from a different enemy?  It does not endanger your life or that of your family to step up and attend local government meetings, write your Congressman, educate your neighbors.  Free speech is still a right protected by our Constitution...at least for now.  It is under assault, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights!  But what are YOU doing to Protect those rights?  We don't ask you to pick up a gun and fight...we ask you to come to meetings and help us figure out ways to make our elected officials listen, ways to get the right people into those elected offices and ways to educate our friends and neighbors. Is that too much to ask?  It would appear so!  Last night we met at the Sterling Library to plan our course of action as we move into the 2014 election cycle.  There is a LOT to do if we are going to make a measurable difference.  How many people showed up?  About 19.  Who were they?  The same committed folks who show up every month.  The average age in the room last night was probably 65.  So, where are the young people?  Where are the parents whose young children are the ones whose future is in greatest jeopardy?  Plenty of you express concern and you are way ahead of those who aren't paying attention, but that is NOT ENOUGH.  What are YOU going to do to ensure Liberty for your children? The honest answer to that question should be of great concern to you. We are fighting this battle in the digital age and we need help from those who are familiar with the internet.  Will you help us?  We need help with the following : Social Networking Coordinators --help us keep an active presence on facebook, freedomconnector and twitter --make sure our events and meetings are posted on all local community calendars, the newspaper's PlanIt pages, calendar and published community events listings Meeting/Event Planners --meet once a month with a small group to plan meeting topics, invite speakers, notify scheduler of upcoming topic and guests Movie Night Host/Hostess --organize a showing of a documentary or inspirational movie once a month --greet people and facilitate short discussion after movie Sauk Valley Voter Website Administrator --Keep SVV website current and up to date How to Become a Candidate Researcher --compile a list of all positions up for election in each of our local communities along with a brief description of the responsibilities of the position --Filing requirements for each (petition signatures, paperwork, etc) --When and where to pick up filing packet --Filing Deadlines Candidate Researchers --compile list of all current candidates for all ballots that affect our local communities in Lee and Whiteside County --locate website and contact info for each candidate and provide it to website administrator --compile key issue positions on each candidate and provide to website administrator For more information on any of the positions listed, or to volunteer to help with them, please email me at SaukValleyTeaParty@Live.com   We have determined that our Voter Information Fair will be held at Sauk Valley Community College on Sunday, March 2, 2014.  The theme will again be "Vote Your Values".   We are hoping to find local business sponsors to donate items to bring more people out.  We would like to get our hands on a flat screen tv and a tablet and maybe a few other items.  If you know of any local business that you think would be interested in helping us with our all-inclusive, non-partisan voter fair by donating $$$ or items, please contact them or get their contact info to me. We will also be approaching both the college and the newspaper to see if they will co-sponsor it.  We have a proven record of respectability and non-partisanship, so hopefully we can convince them to help us draw attention to the event.   The Voter Fair is an interesting event to be part of, I hope you will help organize and promote it. Scandals, scandals and MORE scandals!

Are you tired of seeing a new government scandal every time you turn on your tv or check your email? Then it is time to GET OFF THE SIDELINES AND GET INVOLVED!  Our Government is out of control and it is time to reign it in!  There is a lot to do and WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Please join us for our July meeting!  This will be a working meeting and will determine our course of action as we move into the 2014 election cycle and beyond.  We need more people to step up and help with social media postings, letters to the editor, emails, website, press releases, candidate correspondence, meeting planning, scheduling, flyer brigade, phone tree and much more!  Haven't you had enough of the abuse???  July SVTP Meeting July 23rd, 6:30pm at the Sterling Public Library (102 W. 3rd Street, Sterling--in County Market Parking Lot) We have a lot of important issues to tackle! Where do Bustos and Kinzinger Stand on Immigration Reform?

Where Do Bustos and Kinzinger Stand on Immigration Reform? This may be the most important issue Congress is dealing with right now.  It WILL determine if we remain a nation of laws or if we will welcome lawlessness with open arms.  I urge you to write to your Congressman/woman and find out where they stand on this issue.  Bustos has not responded to me on any issue I have contacted her on yet, so we need to inundate her with letters.  IL Tea is pushing to get a yes or no response from all IL Representatives within a week.  I have attached a sample letter with their question below: Sample letter to Bustos/Kinzinger Contact Cheri Bustos Contact Adam Kinzinger Please let me know if you send either of them a letter and keep me updated on their response or lack thereof.  Many groups are sending out open letters to their Representatives through their local newspapers and also press releases with the results of our query.  Voters need to know where their Representatives stand on issues of such importance!  Thank you in advance for your help! While immigration is a good thing for our country, we have a legal process in place to welcome our immigrants.  Those who enter this country illegally are criminals and should NOT be eligible for taxpayer funded benefits or allowed to skip to the front of the line ahead of those who respect our laws!  Granting amnesty before our border is fully secured will just lure MORE criminal aliens across our borders.  It will bankrupt our nation and destroy our rule of law.  Please take action now.
